Garbage Information
Garbage will be picked up on Monday for all of Summit Hill (East & West Sides, White Bear, Knepper's Trailer Court, Mountaintop Road, and Laurel Drive). All garbage must be placed out on the curb Sunday night. If it is not out the night before, there is no guarantee that the hauler will come back to pick up your garbage.
Please be aware that the use of blue/white 55-gallon barrels/drums are not permitted to be put out as garbage receptacle. If you continue to use them, your garbage will not be picked up. This is for safety issues.
Acceptable Receptacles: 35-gallon cans, 5 bags allowed, no heavier than 50lbs.
Regular Garbage Pick-up
The word "Garbage" is agreed to include, but not limited to, any offal or refuse of fish, fruit, vegetables, animal matter or any other organic substance subject to fermentation or decay. The word "rubbish" is agreed to include, but not limited to, non-recyclable paper, rags, street sweepings, dead animals, excelsior, straw, boxes, old clothing, non-recyclable cans and similar containers, old shoes, leather scraps, oil cloth, carpet, pruning's from vines, lawn trimmings, grass, leaves and any and all other waste materials, etc. which result from the ordinary conduct of housekeeping. Bulky items of waste material are declared to include Christmas trees, furniture and debris from houses or other structural renovations but limited to one (1) bulk item per week.
Construction Materials and/or Toilets will not be taken by the trash hauler.
Electronics will not be picked up such as TV’s, Computers, Keyboards, Monitors, etc.
Fall/Spring Cleanup
Items to be picked up during the Fall and Spring Cleanup include the following: tires (no more than 4), tire rims, auto body parts, refrigerators, freezers, vending machines, dehumidifiers, water coolers, heat pumps, washers, dryers, and stoves. All items shall have all chemicals removed and doors taken off. In addition, then (10) bags bags/cans of garbage will be collected during each cleanup times. Tires will only be taken if a tag is issued from the borough office.
No electronics will be picked up such as TV's, Computers, Keyboards, Monitors, etc.
Garbage hauler will take "dried up paint" but will not take gas, oil, or batteries
Electronics Recycling
Acceptable Electronics: TVs (no more than 4), computer monitors, computer towers, keyboards, computer mouse, printers, copiers, scanners, laptops and tablets.
All electronic items shall be in one piece. If they are not, they will not be accepted.
Electronics Recycling will be an annual one (1) day drop off event for Summit Hill Residents ONLY! ID is required for this event. If you own a home but do not live in Summit Hill, you need to show ID and a tax bill or deed to the home to show ownership.
The garbage hauler will not be providing garbage cans to residents. You will continue to be responsible for your own trash receptacles.
